Arts Marketing & Digital Media Intern (1 Position)

Position Type: Part-Time Internship

Location: Remote (New York City residency preferred, but not required)

Term: September 14, 2026 – December 22, 2026

Time Commitment: 5–10 hours per week

Schedule: Flexible, remote schedule with biweekly check-ins and occasional meetings as needed.

Compensation: $1,200 Professional Development Stipend awarded upon successful completion of the internship.

 

About The Unsung Collective

 

Directed by Tyrone Clinton Jr., The Unsung  Collective Inc., is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization devoted to celebrating people of color in Western art music in New York City. The Unsung Collective navigates countless stories that are the true fabric of historical and current events, with aims to stretch the confines of music of the Western canon. This ensemble and its members are born of the same community that bears the music by which many of these stories are told. As an ensemble, the collective is committed to fostering relationships through collaboration and sharing art with those willing to listen.

 

 

Position Overview

The Unsung Collective is seeking one Arts Marketing & Digital Media Intern to join our team for the Fall 2026 semester.

This internship offers hands-on experience in nonprofit arts marketing while supporting campaigns that promote performances, engage audiences, increase fundraising efforts, and build excitement around our 2026–2027 season announcements. The intern will work directly with the Marketing Coordinator, receiving mentorship in digital marketing, nonprofit communications, project management, and creative content development.

This position is designed for someone who is eager to learn. While previous experience is welcomed, we value creativity, curiosity, organization, dependability, and a willingness to grow just as much as an extensive portfolio.

 

Responsibilities

The Arts Marketing & Digital Media Intern will assist with a variety of marketing initiatives, including:

Social Media Marketing

  • Design graphics using Canva

  • Edit short-form videos for social media platforms

  • Write engaging captions and marketing copy

  • Schedule content through an approved third-party scheduling platform

  • Support campaign planning and execution

Email Marketing

  • Assist with creating newsletters and email campaigns

  • Format and proofread email communications

  • Design graphics for email campaigns

 

Administrative Marketing Support

  • Organize marketing assets and shared folders

  • Assist with campaign creation and  tracking

  • Participate in biweekly marketing check-ins

  • Complete additional marketing projects as assigned

 

Ideal Candidate

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants may be current undergraduate or graduate students, recent graduates, or emerging professionals with an interest in:

  • Arts Administration

  • Marketing

  • Communications

  • Graphic Design

  • Music

  • Journalism

  • Public Relations

  • Digital Media

  • Related fields

Experience with Canva, video editing software, social media platforms, or email marketing platforms is helpful but not required.

    • Applicants without a portfolio are required to complete the creative exercise below. The exercise is optional for applicants with a portfolio.

 

Creative Exercise (required if you do not have a portfolio)

Choose one of the following prompts.

 

Option 1: Social Media Campaign

Create an Instagram post promoting a fictional concert presented by The Unsung Collective.

Include:

  • One social media graphic

  • A caption (100–150 words)

  • A call to action encouraging audiences to learn more or purchase tickets

 

Option 2: Email Campaign

Create a mock email promoting a fictional Unsung Collective performance.

Include:

  • Subject line

  • Header graphic

  • Email copy

  • Call-to-action button text

 

Option 3: Short Video Concept

Create a concept for a 30-second Instagram Reel promoting a fictional concert.

Include:

  • A storyboard or outline

  • Suggested visuals

  • Caption

  • Call to action
